The question is not resolution - different sensors create different images.
The K-70 apparently has a sensor with PDAF detection built-in, which users here {when talking about MILC} claim affects the quality of the image.
We do not know how this affects the image, but it may, so we should not conclude anything, such as 'they are probably the same'.
In any case, quality of image is not the focus of this thread.
What is PDAF detection?

Nice. I now wish I had purchased the silver K70, it looks so much nicer than the black one.

Thank you! The silver is more of a silvery grey than the "old school" silver such as the KP, but very nice also. So far he and I both love the K70, it seems to be a very capable camera. Now he just needs his own 55-300mm so we don't have to share!! He has my 18-50 kit lens as I have the 18-135 now.

Phase Detection Auto Focus.

Why it would noticeably affect the quality of an image (ie color, resolution, dynamic range) I have no idea, so I suspect it does not, and I don't find any authoritative sources who claim otherwise. Feel free to correct me of course.
