How much are willing to shell out for Knew?

I am just curious what the consensus is around here.

To put it in perspective . . . .

Leica CL (aps-c): $ 3,000

Fuji X pro-3 (aps-c): $2,000

Nikon D500 (aps-c); $1,500

Sony a6600 (aps-c): $1,200

Sony A7iii (FF): $1,600 - just saying
Pentax K-1 mkII : $1,800 - well you guys know

It seems to me it’s rather dumb to place it between Leica and Fuji. Or is it? I ain’t paying no $2,500. I can see someone going for $2,000. Maybe. Between X pro-3 and d500?

What is your price?

I'm telling myself that it will be between $2000-$2500, but that's just a guess. The tweet that was discussed a while back said the camera would cost a little more than expected. But how much is a "little more", and how much was "expected"? I don't know. But expecting $2000-$2500, I figure I won't be surprised.

Thank you for that but I did have to laugh. I mean this is a real point of contention. That being said, I’m just curious how many people are willing to how much for this beauty all things considered.

Soooo am I correct in assuming that you will pay up to $2,500? I’m not quite there, yet. Once I see all features I may change my mind.

I guesss anything beyond €1,400 (currently, about $1,660) for the K-new body would give me pause. For that kind of money, it would have to be a seriously compelling upgrade to my K-3 indeed, which may be six years old but still works as on day one. Also, that would put into the same price realm as the DA*11-18, the most desirable wide-angle zoom for Pentax APS-C, AFAIC, or a DFA100WR plus, say, a DA21 Ltd. and an accessory or software upgrade to boot.

Otherwise, I would have to give it more time and wait until the price for the body drops within reach. There is just this simple fact that anything I purchase photography-wise somehow has to be reconciled with a family budget. I wouldn't consider buying used, since I like my kit pristine and have seen people do too many things to their gear that they definitely shouldn't be doing to it.

Well, yes, I would. But I think it's probably going to be closer to $2000 than $2500. Keep in mind though that this is just intuition - I don't have any concrete reasons why I think it would cost that much. I don't have any other high-performance cameras, and I already have a bunch of lenses that are compatible with the new camera, so I don't mind shelling out that kind of cash for a premium Pentax camera.

The K-1 already costs around $2200 USD here in Europe (on average.. it's closer to $2400 in my country), and the K-new has newer tech and seems to have more development put into it. But I am a single guy, and I don't have a wife or children that I need to take into consideration, so I can spend a little more on "toys" than a family man could probably justify spending.

I don't think they would price this model higher than the K-1. It would make sense for it to be slightly less, or maybe even the same as the K-1 II at launch. Who knows, though! We will have to see the final specs to come up with a more accurate guess.

I understand one is a full frame and the other an APS-C, but one is also 4 years newer tech than the other, with a lot of R&D investments to boot.

With that said, I'm only going to be delighted if it's much cheaper. That way I'll be able to buy a nice lens with it as well.

I think it will be somewhere between $1200 to $1500. It couldn't be more or equal to the K-1II. Unless it's really packed with features and can perform really well then that's a different story. Just my guess.

Too early to figure out a fair price.

I want to see a few tests, find out how good the thing is, find out all the actual specs, etc.....when the camera actually is released and available for sale (the final product), find out what actual owners think of the camera....before I figure whether a camera is worth the asking price.

I don't determine what anything is actually worth till these questions and more...are answered.

I think it is wise to let others be the guinea pig first.

I bought my K1 new, after a year from when it first came on sale. I read what others had to say, checked out photos it produced. It is not important to be the first guy on the block to get anything. I'd rather see how it holds up, performs after being in service for awhile.

It may not be anything near the asking price if it is a lemon.

I really need to see the full spec sheet ... there may be some unannounced features

Assuming it is technically a significant advance on previous Pentax APS-C DSLRs, if the full retail price here exceeds £1500 no doubt some will still buy it but, in terms of possible sales revenue for the company, Ricoh-Pentax would be shooting themselves in the other foot.

In my country, the cheapest you can get a Nikon D500 for is around 1900 dollars. I think I've read somewhere that the mark they were aiming for was to beat the Nikon D500, and they claim to have done so. But of course, the prices in my country are useless for predicting US prices, as they differ widely.
