Gooshin, on the K20D, hold 'ok' and roll the front dial -> changes iso.

'ok' + green button ISO -> auto.

*ist D the ISO settings are on the function dial top right of the body,
K10D with updated firmware is Pressing the OK button on the back and using the chosen thumbwheel that you had set up in the menu. The K20D is the same with current firmware. So you can change shutter, aperture and ISO without taking your eye off the viewfinder in the last 2 models and quite quickly on the *istD without using the menu.

When using "A"+ lenses on manual mode you change the shutter with the front dial, aperture with the rear dial, iso with the mode select dial on the top and EV with the +/- button on the back.

please teach.

currently my rear dial controls aperture, and EV+front dial controls EV comp. the front dial by itself does nothing

and i was digging in my menu forawhile, so unless i missed it..
On the K10D: Menu -> Custom Settings -> e-dial in Av mode -> 4. front:ISO rear:Av (choice 5 puts Av on the front and ISO on the rear). A similar option exists for Tv mode. In all the other modes, the "Ok" button + front e-dial (or green button) can be used to change ISO.

K10D firmware 1.10 or better is required for these options to be available, IIRC (I'm running 1.30). The K20D has them out-of-the-box: Pentax K20D Review: 10. Menus: Digital Photography Review

Firmware updates?

Absolutely!

I purchased the K20D for two reasons:
1) I have a huge investment in type PK lenses.
2) Live preview

Live preview is nearly useless. I can only guess that the camera was forced to market with this feature half (or less than) finished.

Which begs the question, are there any firmware updates?

I checked... the latest seems to be v1.01 from here:
Customer Support - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site

The firmware on my camera is 1.00 (hold the menu button while turning the camera on to find your version number).

Unfortunately/fortunately.... the 1.01 firmware only addresses the phantom hot pixel problem.
