K1ii Battery Grip D-BG6 AA vs OEM

Hi all, I just bought a use D-BG6 from ebay and it arrived with only the AA battery drawer. The OEM one is missing. I don't mind too much and am willing to use AA IF the life is comparable. I use Eneloop rechargeable on all my flashes and so on and could just buy a load more of those. What do you think? Should I kick up a stink with the seller or just stuff a load of rechargeables in?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Phil

PS my pics show what I got and what I wish I got (from my second body and hence second grip!

I would definitely ask the seller. It is possible that was set aside at some point and they have it but forgot to include. And if not, they should give you a discount as the item is not complete.
Of course if its a pawn shop or something then likely what you got is all there is but its worth asking.

Hello Phil_Rose,

You should contact the seller (ebay) and hopefully being an honest person, he may have packed the package and distractedly not included the other battery compartment.

Write a message to the seller and depending on what they reply you can leave them negative feedback with comments.

The rules for scoring are strict and he has much more to lose as a seller.

I agree

costs you nothing to contact the seller

be sure to check what s/he was offering for sale

if the ad indicated both trays were being sold and you cannot get the missing one from the seller contact ebay and complain

I would contact the seller. If they are reputable and the grip is definitely Pentax brand, things will go well.

Thanks all. I have written to them. I'm just wondering how mad I should get if it doesn't exist. Ask fe $30 back and keep it or return and look elsewhere? What sayest thou?

Well, not really. I am wondering how long 6AA batteries last compared to one OEM battery. I'm thinking these might give me more shooting time... amazon.com: Panasonic BK-3HCCA12FA eneloop Pro AA High Capacity Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries, 12 Pack: Electronics?tag=pentaxforums-20&

eneloops are good and may last longer, but they are heavier too. You should get the complete grip that you paid for, any less they owe you what you negotiate or accept a return and they pay shipping.

Thanks. I got a helpful reply. I paid $105 for it and have suggested a $25 refund and then I'll just stick with AAs. The camera should arrive with an OEM battery so I'll just use that as a spare for my second body. Two Kiiis. Aren't I fancy?!

I ran some tests a couple of years ago with different batteries in my K50. In my camera, burst FPS was higher with higher battery voltage. Fastest was a fully-charged Pentax battery, second place was disposable lithium AAs. It didn't change a whole lot but it was measureable (I used audio processing software to analyze a video of the shutter clicking).
