A lot of stock is on back order. It either means Pentax gear is becoming more popular or a response to Covid is to carry a bare minimum of stock. It seems counter intuitive in the lead up to Xmas when Australia appears to have the disease under control.

I wrote to CRK a few days ago asking why stock is so low and arrival dates keep slipping. I had no response. I don't know how close to capacity the Pentax factories in Philippines (cameras) and Vietnam (lenses) have been working, but I would guess that Vietnam should be at close to full capacity given the low COVID numbers there.

It seems that stock in Europe isn't unusually low, so I don't know why we are on a drip.

At least the discount is honoured for back order purchases. Sometimes these sorts of discount offers by other sellers are restricted to in stock items only.

My next two purchases will be the K3iii and the DFA 21mm Limited, so nothing to buy this time.

Prices seem higher than a couple of years ago. I got my KP (body only) in Nov 2018 for about $850 during the corresponding sale. Now it is $1044 on sale. Lenses likewise. The $A was about the same then as it is now (around $US0.73). One difference is that we are now coming off a low period and in Nov 2018 it was coming off a high rate - which makes me wonder whether prices will be cheaper in the next 6 months or so (as the effects of the rising $A flow through). Or whether the cost of Pentax gear is going up in real terms (even though the market for photography gear must still be very flat).

About the same here but it was a Dcxpert discount. If you do a Google search for Australia the KP can get up to $1500+. Can't make sense of pricing.

I see, that the Silver Edition DFA*50/f1.4 is actually $150.00 cheaper on the site, and INSTOCK, than the normal Black lens.
