I started with a Ricoh KR 10 super (PK fit) and then a K1000.

Not sure what this counts as?

I had to switch my vote (or voted again) because I stupidly missed the phrase "with the brand" when I read it the first time!

I'm hoping the inheritance is a few decades off still.

Started with a ricohflex in 58 (not unlike MikeMcE's above). Graduated to a Pentax SV in 67.

I also still have the old twin lens reflex.

Started with Kodak instamatic pocket camera and another model which I can't remember.
Used Olympus 35 SP and Minolta Hi matic E in highschool.
Used Canon AE-1 in college in the 80s and was later given a Nikon F2 complete with wide angle, normal to 80-200 zoom
Went to Olympus evolt series. This was my first digital system in 2008.
Pondered in going into Pentax in 2013 and bought K-5II in Feb 2, 2014. Been here since then and grew into the system.
I hope Pentax will continue with photography. Jumping from one system to the next is expensive.

When I was a kid, the family Twin lens reflex was a treasure, doled out in small doses, used for maybe 5-10 rolls a year. It required a certain amount of "awe struck" just to be allowed to use it. Things are different these days. The 1958 sense of privilege to have been able to use this camera has never worn off, I could never sell it.

I agree! I couldn’t afford a Rollei then, this was the next best. Iva always love 120/220.
Afterwards I shot Rollei, C220 and C330, Pentax 6x7 and of course Hasselblad .
35 mm was amateur and press shooters, real Photographers used roll film.
My H1a was the cleanest I’ve ever seen, sold it to a collector, I still miss her!

I did have the 35mm adapter for my Ricoh flex

My first camera was a Polaroid Swinger...around 1966. Around 1970 I started using my uncle's Exakta V with his 58mm f/1.9 Meyer Gorlitz Primoplan lens and a WL finder. He later gave me the camera and I used it in college. The first camera I purchased with my money was a K1000 with a SMCP-M 50mm f/1.7...around 1981 and soon after bought a used Pentax MX. I'd guess I currently own 120 or so cameras...and had at one time over 200. I still have my Uncle's Exakta V with the lens and it's still film worthy.

If you have enough money, the best is the PENTAX K1 MKII.

A camera with the best value for money on the market.
