With film I like to carry a Rollei 35...it has a 40mm f/3.5 Tessar lens and in daylight when I'm shooting f5.6 to f11 it's super sharp. With digital I like my K-70 with the 35mm macro limited, or when I don't have anything specific I'm looking to shoot I'll use my Tamron 18-200. It's not a stellar lens but it's ok in daylight and versatile. If I'm out at night I'm going with the FA 50/1.4. Ideally I'd prefer a fast 30-35mm... at the very least the FA 35/2...but currently I don't have one.

I will be doing a sic with the KP & 40mm limited next month. It will be interesting to see how it fares. It’s certainly discrete

Had it, loved it, sold it when I bought the 35mm limited, love that more! It’s a belter for a cheap, plastic lens

Cool, have fun. What's a sic? (probably something I should know)

Single In Challenge - take one lens and produce image a day for a month, sharing these with the rest of the group doing likewise. It’s one of the social groups on the site. Either the lens or the camera body must be Pentax or Ricoh. The daily in challenge is similar but it only requires an image of any type made with any equipment.

One thing I’ve noticed is that most of my favorite shots with the DA 40 are close distance shots. I really like it for environmental portraits. The top one of these was a street portrait. I asked permission rather than a true street shot. The others just show what can be done with this lens.

Thanks. Should have known, but sounds like a good challenge, I may give it a try.

I like the DA 40 as well, have 2 of them. Getting a good prices on them used may be one of the best values in the camera world.

Wondering what is your favorite body and lens for street photography. Curious being new if there is a must have lens. Or possibly a specific body thats hard to replicate it's amazing image quality.
Street photography to some would be a small body with a wide angle lens. The reason behind what they're saying this is, you wouldn't want to attract attention using a large body and a big lens. Secondly, street photography masters would like to get close to the subject. Chatting with people is a great plus for them. But I have seen work of others using longer lenses and I can't argue that they have mastered street photography using longer lenses.

Anyway, as some of us here said, use what's comfortable for you. As far as I'm concerned, use what you have and enjoy taking pictures. Develop your own style and master it. We are all different and our photographic expressions will always be unique from each other. Good luck

I think this will be my first combo. Not sure what or why but I like to shoot with what others do not. The other brands anyways.

That’s kind of you. It is a good lens and making images with it is fun.

I look forward to seeing the results.

I will also extend another invitation to all to post street photos in this PF group.

The benefit of posting within a group is that posting images on a similar subject within the same virtual space we can often inspire each other, and publicize that interest as a link in a signature block, for example.
