K1ii Noise

I recently bought a K1ii and am still getting used to it. I noticed that when I press the shutter release halfway and when the mirror is up in live view that I hear a whirring or mechanical sound from within the camera. The sound stops when I stop depressing the shutter release or when the mirror is down. The sound is not autofocus as I hear it with manual focus lenses and the camera set to MF. I wondered if this was a normal or expected sound.

Thanks much,

Chip

No worries that is normal. It’s the shake reduction mechanism at work that is shifting the sensor to compensate for the movement of your hands. Have fun with your new camera!

That would likely be the in body image stabilization. I hear it with my K-3 and K-3ii when in live view.
