Holding them again

Hi everyone. Its been a LONG time since I posted. Its been busy. Life has been mostly cinematography, drones and Sony/DJI/Action camera. There's been a smattering of 645z in there, but not much pure "photography" since I just don't have the time.

Well...as a cinematographer, its assumed that I also do "photography" and I've been tasked with shooting some new product hardware that is coming down the line.

If you know what "Exadata" is, well, then in the next couple of months every image you will see of the new stuff will probably be the result of this photoshoot this week!

So in preparation, batteries are charged, firmware has been updated, settings re-familiarized with and what not.

Handling the cameras again, waves of nostalgia rolled over me, and putting a dSLR back up to my face, and taking pictures with a mirror-based camera again...well...I think the Pentax engineers are 100% right about staying with this.

I'm a Pentaxian for sure, but its been WAY too long that I have not held some of my other "still" cameras and stepped away from making cinema or video.

Wow. Just wanted to share a bit. Now I can't wait to buy the new Pentax when it comes out!

With product photography, many cameras will be setup so that I don't have to move the product much after its in position. So all K3 cameras on deck!

Nice to see you back Lauren. Glad we haven't lost you from the world of Pentax. That's quite a collection of Pentax gear.

I'd be curious about why you have 4 identical setups. Funny how small the 645+prime looks, compared to the K3+50-135mm combos.

Yeah...good to be away from the A7S,A6500, FS5, FS7 and other alphabets for a week or so...then back to the grind.

The machines I have to photograph will be taken apart and laid on a table. To get all the views for the technical publications and marketing folks its easier to put the devices on a "lazy susan" and have identical lenses and cameras and settings so that the workflow can move quickly. This way the setup is static and only the hardware that is to be photographed moves.

I can also assure consistent images by keeping the cameras in one location.

But I thought Pentax gear couldn't be used professionally. Do the police know about this!?

I was beginning to think that perhaps my beast did get you... last time you were over.

Also wondering if you wanted to edit this thread title? "Holding them again"

Good to see you back, Lauren!

I agree with you that Ricoh is doing the right thing by staying with the SLR format. Have you seen details for the forthcoming K-3III yet? I suspect it's a camera you may well end up with in future...

Welcome back. Glad to see you are busy and great to see you getting back to your roots. Looked up Exadata. Glad I am retired and no longer have to keep up with that stuff. If you really want to blow their mind walk into the first day of the photo shoot with an old 4x5 studio camera.
