Advice needed

Hey guys,
As some of you know I have a very small photography channel on youtube, where I like to show case my images and adventures with the Pentax k1. If you didnt know that you can find me here. Geoff Moore Photography.. please like and perhaps subscribe if you want to see more... (shameless plug done)
Now I have been giving this some more thought and it was suggested to me by a friend that perhaps I put in some different types of content to help with my channel. So this has got me thinking and I wonder if there would be any interest in video content on cheap/budget K/m42 mount lenses, say under $50. You know the ones from 3rd party manufactures of yester year found in the local charity shops or thrift shops for my American chums.

I'm thinking the video content would include me doing a quasi review with an in the field use on the K1 and showing the images that could be produced on these lesser know, cheaper lenses? Would that idea have any legs you think?
If you think it would what would, what k mount lenses would you suggest I start with under $50? - I'll see about purchasing them on e-bay or some other market place etc... unless any one in the UK wants to gift non used lenses for me create content about?? (Worth a shot huh?)

Looking forward to your suggestions.

It seems to me looking at older lenses could be very interesting. I am sure you would gain a viewer with me. However, I think $50 might be a little low – perhaps a $100 threshold would be more useful?

For myself, as a retired schoolteacher, older lenses are my gateway to quality. In my case the primary criteria is the lens has to be a "9" or better on the forum's lens reviews and then low cost. There are a number of ways to categorize the more experienced lenses: cost; rating; A setting; etc.

I look forward to your first efforts with this new content. Be sure to keep the forum advised.

Good Luck!

My first manual lens was a M50 1.7 lens that I purchased in this forums about 10 year ago for about $50 if I remember correctly. I have bought and sold many lenses to try different things but I still have that M50 1.7

Pentax K 55 F1.8. Picked up a pair of these for about $60 here on the Forum. Rated 9.4 with 74 reviews and rightfully so. Sweet lens.

First off, I just want to say the content on Geoff's channel is excellent. I wasn't aware of this channel so thanks for the shameless plug.

Please help support the Pentax content creators (and by extension the brand) by subscribing and enjoying this kind of content.

I think the lens review is a great idea, as a lot of vintage K-mount glass is adapted for use by Sony, Fuji and other mirrorless users. So the appeal would be wide.

Some budget suggestions:
135mm (many vintage options)
F70-200 / F70-210

I like the idea of looking at older lenses.

Here are a few suggestions of cheap(ish) older K mount lenses:
  • Ricoh 50mm f/2
  • SMC Pentax M 50mm f/1.7
  • SMC Pentax M 50mm f/2
  • SMC Pentax M 28mm f/2.8
  • SMC Pentax M 100mm f/2.8
  • SMC Pentax M 120mm f/2.8 (somewhat rare)
  • SMC Pentax M 135mm f/3.5
  • SMC Pentax M 150mm f/3.5 (somewhat rare)
  • SMC Pentax M 200mm f/4
I own some of the above and would like to see them being made famous.

Wow thanks for the response on this guys this is really encouraging.
I already have a couple of the lenses listed above on my GAS shelf ... so going to start with them, but feared I would quickly run out and then flounder, so having a list to work against is very helpful.
I was thinking of trying to include 3rd parties like Cosina, Miranda, CPC too... They are quite old and obscure to me at least, so with that in mind the same is true for other photographers.....

I'll start planning
