Pentax K-70. question

I have saved an bought a HD Pentax -DA 55-300 F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE lens. Which I really like ....but like to try a teleconverter on it. I have a older teleconverter I used on my old manual lens. I even have a newer one for my older autofocuse lens. When I tried this with my new lens it failed to work.I know the drive is different an maybe this is my problem.I was wondering if anyone else tried this an it worked.

As far as I know the only teleconverter that will work with the PLM lens is the DA 1.4 converter. The PLM won't even work with cameras older than the K-50. I have the lens, DA converter, and KP, it will work if there is enough light.

I shot this with that combo this morning

I wonder if the OP has read the in depth review of the Pentax-DA 1.4x AW AF Rear Converter

QuoteQuote:
. . . Lens Compatibility
Lenses must be F4 or faster for full autofocus compatibility. Slower lenses (F5.6, F5.8) can be used, but phase detect autofocus could be unreliable in which case contrast detect autofocus (live view) is recommended. . . .

Hadn’t there been a rumour of new rear converters coming?

The 55-300 plm uses the contacts inside the mount, bottom right. The da 1.4x tc has these contacts. 2 brass(?) Squares on the plm, not the 7 bearings.

Seems long overdue.

There are some third party teleconverters that also work with the PLM lens. I have the Kenko Pz-AF 1.5x Teleplus SHQ and it works. It has a Tamron-branded twin which is also said to work. The downside is that the camera won't record the effective focal length and this will affect shake reduction. And neither is WR. But they are only one-quarter the cost of the Pentax DA 1.4x TC.

There's a long thread about this, based on some Delphic pronouncements from Asahi Man, which still haven't come true.

Would that be this one? (Not mine)
It has the powerzoom inside connections seen in the last 2 pictures.
