Was about new Z9 - but here we stand.

An interesting observation about where we are today. Seems as we are hitting the wall in a way. Most digital pro and enthusiasts camera makers struggle

I found that this article is hitting the nail.

Of the Nikon Z9 and other new and upcoming gear - Luminous Landscape

Of cause author is wrong about Pentax. How many times has Pentax been doomed? 😁😁😁

One might add that Nikon too is on shaky footing along with most of the industry.

I wonder where he gets his Leica sells more cameras and lenses than Pentax from? Fuji GFX sells more? I rarely see another Pentax in the wild, but I've never seen a Leica or GFX in the wild...Maybe it's just living upstate NY...I do see plenty of Leica binoculars...

I've been feeling that vibe too. I could very much see Pentax surviving as a specialist niche product while Nikon gets edged out of the big race.

I have seen a lot more Fuji in the wild than Pentax here in Central TX.

On the other hand, I imagine a significant proportion of Leica products go straight to the display case/safety deposit box and never see the street.

I think in the past few years I've seen more Leica cameras in "the wild' (four?) than Pentax digital (two), not to mention that my old office used to be a few blocks away from a Leica store. Talk about how one shouldn't generalize from one report I'd have a very hard time believing there are more Leica users

Interesting rather than informative. He is obviously looking for "problems" where none exist. For example "The problem for the [APS-C] K3 mk III is that those vintage [Pentax] lenses tend to be full frame". And we have been using them on APS-C all this time not knowing it was a problem! Then the new Pentax K-3iii has a "rarely seen lens mount". Yes, a mount which has only been on every Pentax SLR, DSLR and MILC (not the Q series, but let's not forget the K-01) since the since the late 1970s. That's why we can keep using those Pentax lenses (and why some other systems love adapting them too). Pentax may be doomed (we all are in the long run) but I wouldn't mind betting the Pentax name will live on longer than his does.

Saw a Leica around a twenty something hipsters neck in New Orleans. Stormy Daniels was doing photos with fans so an improptu street party was happening.

I've seen them in a "zoo" - behind glass in the Leica store in Sydney.

Pentax has been Doomed since 1985 - 35 years ago but Pentax is still here and innovating.

A pro here I see (or used to pre-COVID) at the coffee shop I go to sometimes has one of his Leica's in tow. Usually it's some giant Canon, though.
