I have a K7 which I think the SR may have died on. When the camera starts up or when using the dust removal setting the SR makes a very short high pitched noise - but not the one I remember. It's been a while since I've done much shooting. Is this a common failure point?

It is not the SR you hear, it is the supersonic sensor cleaning.
It is normal that it makes a high pitched noise.
