Shutter count on new cameras

Hi everybody,

I recently bought a new K-m from a reputable (I think!) online dealer.

It seems that the shutter counter started at around 200. Is that normal?

I didn't check initially, but went back to the earliest picture I didn't delete, with the name 100-0024, and in the EXIF data was a shutter count of around 250.

Anyone know what might cause this?

This has been discussed before. In summary, this shutter count is normal (as long as it not too excessive) as it may be used for QC purposes. I have heard others had higher numbers. My K10D when I first got it was around 96. I wouldn't worry too much if it is under 300.

Hmmm, makes me feel better about my "used" *ist DL. It came with under 200 exposures (and was mint.) Sounds like it was as "used" as some NiB cameras.
