Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, where it is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. Since Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, Black Friday may be as early as the 23rd and as late as the 29th of November.
So sayeth Allmighty Lord Wikipedia

That's not a bad deal, actually. It's about 1/3 more expensive over here.

EDIT: PS: I'm surprised there's no Canon or Nikon offerings. Pleasantly surprised...

Because most merchants hope to sell enough on this date (start of holiday season sales) to be in the "black" rather than in the "red". Or, so I've been told.

It's a fire sale! Every store everywhere is racing to get rid of all the crappy obsolete Pentax cameras at rock bottom prices! Pentax is dying! In fact, Pentax is already dead! Hoya bought them only to kill off the entire product line!

Anyway, while this looks cool I'd still get the K200D. The price difference is so small it's probably worth it even if you have to buy the flash seperately. And why did they put the buttons on the wrong side of the LCD on the K2000?

EDIT: In fact, the K200D with kit lens (metal mount on that one, mind you) is $560 on Amazon, and the AF200FG is $79, so you end up at $639 total versus $599 for the K2000 deal. I know what I'd do...

Uh... no.

If you ever worked retail on the friday after thanksgiving, you KNOW why it is called black friday. You get the worst customers in the highest numbers with corporate advertising stuff that isn't readily available. The net result is exceedingly unpleasant. As an employee, it's pretty much the wrost day of the year.

I just picked up a new K200D from Canada on eBay for $499 and a 30% Microsoft cash back for 'Buy it Now' and use of Paypal. Net cost $350. The MS cashback came as an instant credit to my PayPal account so I also picked up a 10-17 Fisheye while I was at it - also from north America with 30% cash back within 60 days.

That may be your personal take on it, but the correct answer does reflect retailers being in the black (ink). Don't believe me? Google it.
