Not for cameras.

So do I, but for practical reasons. I have about 5 PCs that might be on the network, most of which I assembled myself so they don't have makers' names on them, and if they did they would likely be something un-memorable. I'm on "Mesh" right now, so-called because it has decorative black metal mesh on the front.

I am emotionally attached to some tools, although they don't have names. One of the most useful tools I have is a small "ivory" handled table knife I had from the age of about 5, and I retain an affection for it. I was using it only last week to prise the rear control panel off a Sunpak hammerhead flash unit to repair it. Sunpak 555 / G4500DX Repair - PentaxForums.com . It is flat, flexible, and small enough to have started off through the slots for the slider switches.

I also have some tools that were probably bought from junk shops by my grandfather and dating from the 1800s, a wooden-handled spokeshave for example, and they are still as good as modern tools. You would not believe how many tools I have - for example complete socket sets in 3/4", 1/2" 3/8" and 1/4" drives, and probably over 100 straight-slot screwdrivers alone - makes me laugh when people say they don't have a screwdriver in the house. I'm familiar with every one and would not part with any of them

I'm amazed how many people own to naming their cameras - it's honestly never occurred to me - my laptop's official name is Gandalf, after Gandalf the White, as Microsoft encourage you to give names and it's white, but cameras? Not yet

On the other hand, I did call a carved wooden bloodhound we had some 30 years ago 'Pentax' so I'm not totally in the clear

So I'm just wondering has anyone else given their camera a name? I currently have a beautiful K1 and her name is Emilia. And I have to say I take Emilia everywhere! If anyone else has the same sentiment I would love to hear about it as well as any stories!

Plot twist: Not sure if this counts but K1000 is pronounced like "Camille" in Spanish.
One of my sister's best friends is named Camille. And she signs her notes as "K-1000"

Thanks,

Yes. Colors 😊:
Red-K-3ii, Blue-K-3, Black-K-11ii (converted K-1) and green-K-1ii. They have Optech straps of the corresponding color. Saves a lot of time finding them.

I had never thought about naming my cameras, either.

If I had done that, I might not have sold my K20D and my K-r in the past - it would have gotten personal

Naming cameras? That's silly. On the other hand, my guitar amps have names of course. The '72 vintage Fender Twin is named Elvis. The bass amp I sometimes use is Reggie (Reginald actually, since he's from Britain.) And my newest Fender amp is named Leo. Seemed appropriate.

They sort of have names. But I call them by either their model designation... (the K1, the K10d, the K5, the F-1) or if I only have one...such as my Mamiya medium format (call it the the Mamiya) or my very old, beat up, but still functioning Leica 11f....I call it the Leica.

I have two vintage motorcycles. One is a '67 Matchless 750 scrambler...I call it the Matchless...the other a '78 Yamaha SR 500 single...I call it the 500.
