issue with kingston 4g hcsc on k20d

I currently use Kingston 4 GB SDHC Class 6 with k20d. Occasionally during indoor shoots, K20d displayed cannot display the image. Also, when I take continuous shoots and also received the same message. Once I got this message, I got to re-format Not sure if the card speed is too slow or the card has issue.

Card speed is not too slow. I regularly use a 4GB Class 4 card without problems.

I suggest you format the card in camera, take a few hundred test shots to verify if the problem still exists.

If it does and you don't want to do further testing on your computer (you can download free media testing tools at and other websites), I would return the card for warranty replacement.

If your images are important to you, just replace the card, for me it would not be worth the risk.

I must admit I have always used Sandisk Extreme III cards without any issues.

SirGMT, I use the exact same Kingston card in my K20D and have never encountered the problem you are having. Also use the 4gb nonHC Transcend cards and they work flawlessly. There is a problem with your card or your camera. Try another card to see if the K20D is fine. If so send card back to Kingston for a replacement.

Good point on considering the value of pictures. That's one reason why I own 8 cards and don't rely on one to hold all my photos during a shoot.

One of my many cards is a SanDisk Extreme III 2 GB and I have to return it for warranty replacement because the lock slider fell out . I never use that slider, so I assume it fell out inserting it either onto the computer card slot or camera.

I have been using a Sandisc Extreme Ducati edition in 4gb since July and recently
purchased a Sandisk Extreme III 4gb and have never had a problem with them.
They were both formatted before use in my K20D and after I have downloaded
images and saved copies the cards are re-formatted.
I've never had a problem with the card locks either.
