Samsung GX-10 and Pentax DA* 16-50 mm

Hi,

Did one of you try already this combination ?

The seller told me that all Pentax lenses are compatible with the GX-10 ; well I agree for the mechanic part with the K mount, but what about the "electronic" part ?
Pentax K-10 and Samsung GX-10 have different firmware ; so, will the compatibility be at 100% for the DA* 16-50 mm on my GX-10 (management of the AF and so on) ?

On the site of Pentax, they said that the DA* 16-50 mm has been "Developed specifically for PENTAX digital SLR cameras". Shall I understand only for Pentax DSLR ?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

I'm not 100% certain but they should work with no issues.

Furansu,

On the Samsung site it says that Samsung DSLR cameras have "complete" interchageability with all Pentax lenses.

Furansu,

The answer is that the GX-10 CAN be used with the DA*16-50 f2.8 SDM, as I believe Pentax have chosen to retain the screw drive coupler. If you'd prefer to use the lens with the SDM focus motor, you would need to update the firmware on your camera to version 1.3. The firmware update is available as a download from Samsung's support site, and the procedure is quick and straightforward to do.

This reply is probably too far out of date now, but I can confirm that this combination works just fine.

Nope Longboarder, this is not "too far out of date now". Santa still didn't bring me the DA*.
In fact at first I was considering the 16-50, but now I'm more thinking about the 50-135 which would give me another range (as you, I have the original kit lens 18-55).
Thank you for answering.

Hi

I looked on the samsung cameras international website, and could only find s/w for the GX-20 - i.e. nothing for the GX-10.

So could someone:

a) Give a potted history of the versions and what they do/correct?

b) Give me the relevant link to the download location?

Many thanks in advance.

Firmware for GX-10 is here:

Samsung Digital Camera

But I couldn't give you any info on previous releases. I've downloaded but not yet installed the 1.30 firmware on mine as I don't have any SDM lenses and I think that is one of the main features of the latest release. I'm quite happy with the menu options as they are on my V1.1 firmware.
