Wondering if anyone know k10d can lift the mirror, lock in the up position, put the lens in, then shoot withour returning the mirror?

im curious, why would you want to? why not have the lens in in the first place? if it wasn't there, how would you have known the composition and focus was right?

Perhaps to use a lens of such short focal length as to interfere with the motion of the mirror? Just a guess.

I have lens that can only mount with mirror up, i.e. Yashica DX 21mm.

That is a very odd lens design! I'm not sure, but you could put the camera in sensor cleaning mode, mount the lens, and turn the camera off and on again. But I am not sure if you will damage the mirror in the process. I'm not even sure how you would frame the shot if you did get the lens mounted?

Very bad. Mirror goes down when powered off after sensor cleaning.

Hence the comment of damaging the mirror. As I believe that you cannot go from sensor cleaning mode to shooting without turning off the camera. Correct me if I am wrong.

The lens comes a view finder like the rangefinders.

POP,
Other then using a non-retrofocus wide angle, This would be useful when shooting animals remotely. This way the mirror noise doesn't scare them away.
