Black curtain???

Hey,

Some of my photos are getting a black curtain sort of thing coming in from
the bottom and ruining the photo.

Some photos it's very little but some it takes up the whole or almost
the whole photo.

Please help.

Thank You.l

Yes sure, it will take a second as I have to convert it from a RAW file.

Oh man, I haven't a clue. Does that happen a lot? Maybe firmware needs updating. I am no expert though.

I haven't used my camera in a while. The last time I used it, a photo came out
messed up and also the USB port in my camera fell into the camera itself!

Warranty is expired and I just got a new photo job.

I believe that it can be the memory card, something to check out.

EDIT: IDK about the avatar just found it online somewhere lol.

I have a flash but never use it, so I could be way wrong, but it could be a flash sync issue. How are daylight images without flash?

It appears as though your shutter is sticking at the end of travel. How many exposures does it have on it?

I've seen this problem before in "corrupted" files that show good in camera but when transfering to pc it shows a black band, horizontal, but not always at the bottom. It has happended several times with my istD and it was pinpointed to "dirty" contacts on memory card.

Have you tried a different memory card?

Flash sync problems WILL cause banding like that and the bands are running the right direction for a vertical shutter. The fact that the bands are different widths makes me think the it's a flash sync problem and the photographer is shooting at different shutter speeds, all of which are too high for proper synch.

I think the lighting would be harsher with flash, so I would guees that the shutter sticking is the most likely. Maybe your shutter has found out where the USB port ended up?

Thanks Guys, I'm gonna try a different memory card today.

BTW one more reason I strongly believe it's the memory card is because
in the camera all the photos look normal- no black curtain.

I would guess it's the card at fault here, try the SanDisk Extreme III cards, they're cheap now and have never caused me a moments problem.

You're right. If it was a flash sync problem the pic would have the bands, in camera or out.
