Oops, I did it (again)... K20D on eBay

I was messing around on eBay seeing where most of the ProDigital2000 open auctions (not the Buy It Now/Make an Offer) and put in a lowball bid on a new K20D. 3 minutes later, the auction closed and I'm now the owner of a new K20D.

I'm elated, of course, but a bit concerned because the C$ auctions feature a 2 year domestic/1 year international warranty but the US$ auction states only a 1 year international.

Is that because they don't expect Canadians to bid on the US$ auctions?

I'm thinking it's the same box, you bought in Canada from a Canadian reseller, you'll probably get the 2 year Canadian warranty.

They probably just say the one year international thing so that US buyers know what they're getting--Pentax USA only has a one year warranty (3-years for a special promotion now, though).

Congrats!

+1. Was it an offer or a bid?

Hey, while someone mentions it, how do you get warranties (and the extended one and suchlike? I didn't see a warranty card, or, so far, directions, for that, with my new k20d... Shouldn't be grey market, where I got it.)

The two previous auctions closed over US$650 and I was expecting this one to jump up to about the same so I put in a maximum bid of US$620 with about 5 minutes to go assuming it'd get quickly outbid. To my surprise, the other high bidder didn't go above that and I ended up winning.

So those looking to purchase from PD2000, it looks like you can get down to the low US$600's not including shipping (wonder if they will go that low on a "Make an Offer"?).

Nice thing is, if you pay on any major credit card these days, warranty is usually doubled up to a maximum of a year anyway.

Now I just have liquidate my K10D; glad it's my birthday month, my 40th, and Christmas this year because it makes it that much easier to justify to myself!

LOL I bid $615 on that.. since I read someone else got one for $615 a few days ago. After tax, exchange and $37 shipping I figured I didn't want to go higher. Americans can get it for $699 at Adorama with the kit lens.

That was me the other day for $615 Yeah I've been watching them for a while, anything under $620 for the body is acceptable, I haven't seen anything below $600. Adorama list the kit 18-55mm for $99.95 (http://www.adorama.com/PX1855AFD2.html), so that price for the body and kit is about right too. However, for Canadians there's no duty buying from prodigital which saves a huge amount

I'm not sure you would get charged duty on camera equipment but it could depend on luck. I didn't when I bought a K100D Super from B&H. Warranty issues I'm sure we are better off buying from Prodigital though.

Just called PD and confirmed that while there is not duty, we do get dinged for GST and flat rate shipping :-(

Still, it's a fantastic deal for us Canuckistanians up here and I'm supporting a local business.

It's got to do with the metric system - you know - one year in the US seeming like two in Canada...

Well, it looks like one just closed at US$560...

NEW PENTAX K20D 14.6MP DIGITAL SLR BODY NEW IN BOX - (eBay.ca item 130275951881 end time 17-Dec-08 21:14:40 EST)

They're handing out these things like candy! It looks like your best bet are to shoot for auctions closing around 6 pm PST for best sniping results.
