Recordable image No is always 999/670

I just shot with my new K200D last night and the recordable image data is always 999 and on occasion 670? (I didn't change JPG quality during the shoot) I shot 400 images last night and the image number never changed. I was shooting hi-quality JPEG w/ the 8GB Transend SDHC, and I suspect the problem is that the data counter doesn't go above 999. I tried out a 2GB card and the image numbers counted down correctly. Any advice on how I can get the number of photos I'm taking with the 8GB card? I'm a concert photographer and I need instant fast feedback, and can't really spend the time accessing the feedback menu and going through the Folder No/File No in the pit.

Hi Billy,

On my k100d, with an 8gb card it shows 999 recordable images left on the counter. On my K10d it is accurate. I figure that once you get down below 999 the counter will show the accurate estimate.

it shows 999 because you have space left for more than 999 images on your SDHC and K200 top LCD screen can show max only 999. (k10D/K20D can show upto 9999).

And about 670... it a bug. I figured out it ~ half-a-year ago on my K10D. It occures when current day folder is empty and there is another non empty folder. If I remove power from cam and then insert and power-on, then everything is OK, if then power-off-on, It shows 670 again. If then go menu - RAW, OK, Menu - Jpeg, then again number is OK, but if again power-off-on or play, then 670 is shown.

Don't worry. Everything is OK. It doesn't affect anything.
