I voted NO, but I eventually will get it, it's just the natural progression of things.

I've been waiting for Pentax to get back to the position that they were in with the MX/LX series; that of high quality in an economical package.
At last, it seems that the wait is over. Time will tell, of course, but it seems likely that many pros may well return to the old practice of having a "high end" camera slung around their necks whilst actually taking their photographs with their 'working' equipment, viz. Pentax.

I think i'm going to get one, may at least wait for a review or two to come out on it, but I don't see how I could go wrong as this will be my first SLR camera and a huge step up from my P & S olympus

As soon as Amazon has them in Stock !!

I have pre-ordered my K10d at Amazon and hope that it arrives sometime in November! I am also a Canon 30D owner and love it! I am fascinated by the Pentax, it;s anti-shake body, the 'pancake lenses', and the wonderful IQ.

I had already voted "maybe" but just now pre-ordered it from amazon. I won an auction for that legendary 300 4.5 F* and need something to put it on.

Well, I am a pro, and I finally went digital after the *st D wa getting had to find, but it was the only Pentax digital that I felt I could use professionally. That's got a lot to do with the two control wheels, and a minimum of menu-diving.

I will get the K10D because I wanted the shake reducton, but the K100D is not suitable fo quick studio use. The two control wheels on the K10D mean I can actually use the camera ituitively, plus it seems to be a lot more rugged.

I hope that Pentax will release a highe-end body, a digital LX, and make the new lenses that are coming out weatherproof like the k10D body.

FWIW, the two lenses I depend on the most are the A 50mm f/1.4 and the 77mm f/1.8 Limted. The 50mm is a manual focus lens, and outside I still use a K 45-125 zoom. I started with manual everything, so autofocus is a nice plus, but not essential to a good lens!!

what I really want is...

I voted no - I'm happy enough with my DS for now. I certainly expect to someday buy another camera - my DS can't last forever. But frankly, I'd prefer something more like the DS in terms of size. And unless the ISO 1600 performance is a hell of a lot better than I am being led to believe it will, I don't think going to 10 MP is going to be worth it for me - even if the performance is at least as good as the DS, the file size increase doesn't make me happy, and I'm just not feeling constricted with 6 MP.

So what I see myself doing someday is buying whatever comes along as an more incremental upgrade to the K100D - I'm assuming Pentax will continue offering a more entry-level option that will suit my needs just fine. I envy the SR and faster AF of the K100D, but would love to see the bigger viewfinder of the DS and/or maybe a few of the miscellaneous cool features of the K10D added to the K100D line. But again - until there is an actual need, I don't see myself upgrading a caqmera that works fine for me now.

Had to cancel my pre order. Washing machine died. Maybe I will get the K100D instead and wait for more reviews and save up some more money. Mike

I have definately pre-ordered - especially when I saw the price down here. I was expecting it to be about 1500 aussie, but they pleasantly surprised with the low price!

And roentarre, thats a gorgeous area under Sydney there - have you ever eaten at the restaurants on the left your shot? Great food!
