Any suggestions on where I can find a rubber grip contact cover for bottom of a K-5?

I always used to have a grip on it, and now I cant find the little rubber cover/guard for the grip contacts on the bottom. What is the correct term for this part?

They used to sell them at uscamera.com but haven't been in stocks since Ricoh stopped selling parts to non-Ricoh partners. You can give them a try, perhaps Ricoh changed their policy once again.

Yeah, I probably did... and when I sold the grip, off it went!

Thanks for that. They are out of stock, but the name of it is a "Pentax bottom cover connector cap"!

If anyone has any other sources, please let me know, thanks!

I think it's called bottom plate rubber. I lost mine on the K1, probably while adding and removing the battery grip. I couldn't find anywhere any replacement part for the K-1, so what I did it that I made one out of a piece of rubber and covered it with removable adhesive tape to maintain weather sealing when shooting outdoors. On top of the adhesive tape is the L bracket permanently screwed on the bottom plate, so it's even better sealed than with the original rubber part.

Could someone print one with a 3D printer? This is a very commonly lost item...

A suggestion as to manufacturing the part(at your own peril)
Small tube black silicone
Masking tape
Vaseline
Remove bottom plate
Treat cover lip with Vaseline
Mask across hole inside plate
Mask up around hole outside plate
Careful apply silicone and smooth over.
Let set for 24hours gently remove silicone and trim as necessary.
Refit bottom plate and silicone cap.
Best of luck 👍

Maybe look for another battery grip. I recently bought a grip that had the cover still on the grip.

You could sell the extra cover you now have, and return the balance in the universe

I recently bought a used K-3 and the rubber cover is also missing. I can't even find it on eBay. Looks like I'll have to live without it for now.

You might find one still on a used D-BG5 battery grip...which would be cheaper than a broken K-3. When I added a battery grip for my Nikon D700, the rubber cap was still on the grip.

Here's a cap on ebay ...

Try some of the 3D printer STL search engines like STLFinder or STLBase. I thought I found links for the cover I that posted before. 1/2 hr or less research time should turn something up if it exists.

Edit: ok I was mistaken, it was for the lens release button that I posted links for. But you should do your own search on the 3D printer search engines.
