The question I have is whether the various diopters (e.g. PENTAX SMC Diopter Adjustment Lenses M-5 30731) will fit directly on a K body - K-30 in my specific case

It's not easy finding information whether this is a direct fit, or whether another adapter has to be purchased

Eyepieces from the M series on, including DSLRs, should be compatible with the same frame size. The K series film SLRs had a different size frame (smaller). K series eyepiece accessories will not fit on M series and later bodies. M series or later eyepiece accessories (refconverters, magnifiers, diopters etc.) will fit on K-series bodies but not snugly and may even fall off if the camera is inverted.

To be more specific, this means K series FILM (1975-1997) will not fit M series onward?

To be more specific, M series (1976-1988) will fit on K-series DIGITAL (2006+), but sounds like it may be slightly "big"?
