so do Canikon owners piss and moan as much too?

I don't frequent other boards, but do Canikon owners complain as much as Pentax owners? Just curious. My guess would be yes, but that it is just about different things. If you read most forums you'd swear that the product in question (be it camera, motorcycle, car) was going to burst into flames at any second, killing thousands...

are you serious? Of course :-)

Everything from "my $1600 Nikon 24-70 is a bad copy" to "my damn Canon $2500 5DmkII has random black dots" :-)

They do, but their complaints are sharper, their arguments have more contrast, and their resolution is unparalleled compare to lowly Pentaxians.

Go to ANY product forum - not just camera oriented ones - and you'll see the same thing.

You can build a million great widgets with one bad one and the only person you'll hear from is the person who got the bad one, who will bad mouth you until the end of time...

Depends on a model. Like here as well. Believe it or not most of us complain for a reason.
If you've been around long enough you already noticed. Very little complains for istDS or k20D for example, a lot for K10D, no complains for DA* 50-135 a lot for DA* 16-50, etc.

If you'll read photography-on-the.net you'll see the same trend for Canon users. One thing they are not complaining though in the last 3 years is FF cameras.

Most product forums I've seen are similar to the photo ones in this regard. However, those centered on cruising sailboats seem to focus on using and modifying the equipment rather than complaining about it. Perhaps, because sailing yachts are produced in such small numbers (often in cottage industries), customers expect them to be idiosyncratic and thus remain stoic when trouble arises (and it does often enough).

Also, in my long experience, yacht owners both "on the dock" and on-line lack the personal identification with a company and brand that seems to grip so many camera enthusiasts - ironic given that the "investment" a sailing boat and her maintenance represents makes LBA look pretty cheap.

Same thing goes for Cessna planes forums. And I believe it is as expensive as sailing. And we have to pay for gas on top of that.

Probably costs more! And - yes - I do feel your pain.

after club racing an old 911 for 3+ years, I feel your pain. There's about 50K reasons I sold it early this year.

As they say, if it floats, flies, or f***s: rent it.
