Flash compensation

Hi,
Happy Holidays to everybody!
The question is about combination of k200d and af360. Is the flash compensation on the camera the same as on the flash (S-wheel)?
I've been using S-wheel all the time then I realized (better later than never) that it can be done in the cam. It, of course, will affect the onboard flash. Any other "side effects"?
Thank you very much.
