remote photography

ok i have an *istDL and my buddy just gave me the remote for christmas.

now when he uses his remote on his camera (D40) on bulb setting he can push and release the button on the remote to open the camera and then push and release the button again to close the camera and complete the shot.

but on my camera i have to hold the button down to make the camera stay open to get a long exposure.

is there any way to make my*istDL like his d40 in the remote aspect?

Don't think theres any way to do that on your camera. The Nikon has what used to be called a "T" setting. You can buy the Pentax wired remote and do it. Even lock it open and walk away for long length of time. Don't think the D40 has wired remote socket.

thanks

Plug the wired cable release into left side of camera. Set top camera mode dial to B. Press the button on wired remote and while depressing slide it up. This locks the camera shutter open untill you press the button and slide it back down (or the batteries give out). Hope this helps.

The point & shoot contest is in the point & shoot forum on this website. Any brand camera can enter.

thanks
