Exactly right, I think. Rotating the camera would have no effect if the problem was due to mixed lighting.
True, but I think the suggestion was that the problem may have something to due with the cycle time of the fluorescent light itself - these lights flicker, of course - and the shutter speed being just right to catch it in mid-flicker. Sounds kind of doubtful, but just plausible enough to be worth checking into further,

Umm, on second thoughts, a shot at 1/60 sec or slower would capture the full... something-or-other I read about at somewhere(Strobist, maybe) having something to do with AC current cycle...

So many analysis... I just think the camera needs to be sent in for service.
Your pictures shouldn't look like you had used a coloured GND filter. So something isn't right.

I tend to side with the folks that think it might be related to the spectrum of light produced by flourescent lights. The difficulty white balancing with flourescent lights, especially the newer high efficiency compact flourescents is a known issue. What your eyes see in this kind of light is sort of an average of many individual moments in time. Your shutter speeds are very fast, so you may be seeing the moments, rather than the average. Try one of two tests, take the picture under the same lighting with a slow shutter speed, or take pictures under known full-spectrum lights like household incandescants or sunlight. If you still see the problem, it isn't the light--it's the camera.
