Remote trigger compatibilty

Hi there,

I am looking for a wireless trigger for my K3 Gen 1, as far as I know all K models are using the same type of remote, simply 2.5 or 3.5mm jack with on/off switch. I found some cheap wireless triggers like this one with interval timer, the special thing about it is it can be use wired too, but Pentax still not a hot brand so without the cable for it, I wonder if I could simply buy any model and change/make the cable myself, any comment ?

Get the one with the E3 cable end. that will go into the remote socket of a K-5. The site you mention says it will work with:

For Pentax:K-5,K-5IIs, K-7,K-30, K-50, K10D,K20D,K100D,K200D,

and Pentax has not changed its remote connections for its digital cameras.

If you were just wanting an infrared remote trigger the is the Pentax Remote F and the weather sealed version as well. The remote trigger that you link to has many additionall functions.

Regards

Chris

Yes I know, but for some reason I've to order from other site that carry lookalike models but without the cable for Pentax, china produced lot of such things and they are basically the same thing I could use, provided there is no tricks in the cable just an on/off switch. Btw what plug to use, 2.5/3.5mm and 3/4 poles ? I used my old LG phone with IR for remote trigger, and the KP lacking the IR sensor was an disappointment.

The K-3 uses the older 2.5mm 3-ring plug, the CS-205 release, as compatible with many Canon cameras.
It's only the K-70 and KP that use the 3.5mm 4-ring plug (as far as I'm aware), the fourth contact is for the microphone connection.
As you say, "the KP lacking the IR sensor was an disappointment"
