Question about Tv mode on K10D (please reply)

Hello everyone, the k10d is my first dslr- so sorry if there is a beyond obvious answer here. I did a search, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for...

I'll set the shutter speed in Tv and mode the camera will often change the shutter speed, before the shutter is released. I don't understand, as I figured in Tv mode- I should be in control of the shutter speed, not the camera. I have noticed this problem with different indoor lighting and when I shoot at outdoors at night- I did a quick test during daylight (outdoors) and there didn't seem to be a problem. It seems like the camera auto-compensates for the lack of "good" lighting, and slows the shutter speed, even though I really don't want it to. Is there way to override this? Or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you got auto exposure compensation set? I cant think why the camera would choose a slower speed otherwise.

That was exactly it! There was so much to set up in the custom menu those first days, I must have over looked that one. Thanks!
