Overheated DS's days are done-What to do with it?

I want to report back on my previous thread, "Ds doesn't work after batteries overheat.'
I took it to an authorized repair center and the estimate listed: Replace Power Circuit, Repair and Adjust main Circuit, Clean CCD unit, General cleaning lube, adjust to specs, etc. -$287 plus tax. To recap, the camera overheated, discharging the Lithium Photo CRV3's completely after which it never worked. As to the chicken or the egg question, the repair center owner said that he didn't know but thought a camera failure more likely than a battery failure. He also said ,"Pretty much any DSLR repair is $200." I have no problems with the estimate, only that I can't see putting that much into a camera of that vintage at this point, even with their full 6 month warranty.
Now what I do with it? Is it of value to anyone as a parts camera? Ebay? Recycleable?
It was a pleasure to own but sadly I will not have a backup body when I get a K20D or it's successor.
As we all know, today's cameras are electronic devices as much a optical devices. I'll
definitely get an extended warranty on anything new I buy.

Well, i could be interested in parts.. CCD especially.
The important question is how much you would want for the camera.
You said Replace power circuit, repair main. Any ideas how severe is the damage to main circuits?
