The simpliest way is to use Exiftool
It can extract any preview from any RAW format.
Pentax PEFs contain fullsized jpeg with one star * quality

I've only recently stepped up from the K100D to the K10D. This thread has prompted me to experiment more with the RAW+ JPG option to see the quality differences. When I set the camera to shoot the highest quality JPG, then extract the RAW JPG from the same file, the difference is noticeable but not extreme. Hmmm... time to push my assumptions a bit.

I'm going to challenge myself to shoot RAW+ JPG for a while and see if my final RAW edits do in fact consistently exceed the results I can get with in camera JPG files. Who knows, my work flow may change as a result, and if it doesn't I'll feel better about my reasons for sticking to what I've come to know and love.
