What F stop do you take your landscapes with?

I was wondering what everyone used as far as F stop and landscapes/scenic photos.
since things are less sharp after F11, do most stay as F11 or F16?

thanks, just wanting some input to improve my photos

cheers

Randy,
I think that's a too generic rule to go by, there are a few other things you may wish to consider.

While generally it's true a lens is sharpest when you're not pushing the extremes of either end as far as aperture goes, there's still a lot to be said about the DOF between, say, f11 and f32 or f45 (my Sigma 28-105 reads f45 at the long end if I stop it all the way down)

So while the exact focus point may be mildly sharper at an f11 or f16 - you may want the greater depth of field you'd get from an f/32. If you're shooting a landscape @ infinity f/16 should be fine, but if you've got elements in the photo that are varying distances, you may need to stop down more depending on what effect you're going for.

Just checking through my catalog in PS-Elements, lately I've been shooting f/22 and up - but generally it's not so much about sharpness, but about controlling the exposure time, since I don't have any ND filters (yet) and I've been doing a lot of pictures of flowing water. But then there's a ton of other shots that I've taken at f/16. I'd say the majority seem to fall in the f/16 and f/22 range.

Just my .02

Hey Randy,
If I'm using wide angle 16-18mm, I use f11 or f16.
If it's not as wide, 28-35, I'll stop down futher f22.
Cheers.
