External Flash Trigger voltage for the ...

... K10D and K100D/110D. There has been a few threads here and on other forums lately concerning safe trigger voltages for the K10D and the K100/110D. People have been guessing, but there have been no hard facts.

So, today I called Pentax Imaging USA, to find an answer.

Thanks to Tim at Pentax, the answer is 25volts. That's 5 less than the ist *Dx series cameras. Any flash with a trigger voltage of less than 25 volts should be safe to use.

I hope this information proves useful.

So, it is still an ISO 10330 complaince, for the *voltage* part. However, the maximum toleratable discharge current is still unknown!

Pentax AF400T

Thanks to all for the posts on trigger voltage for the K10D. I have an AF400T which I've happily used on my LX. Wonderful reach and coverage! I'm glad that I can use it on the K10D, even if only in the old "semi-auto" mode using the sensor on the flash.

For the others in the group who started out in the old days, that mode was an incredible improvement over the completely manual mode - focus, note the distance, check the calculator dial on the flash, set the aperture - drat, something's changed, gotta refocus - you get the picture! Or not!

Now if I can find my old hot shoe to pc connector adaptor - its only about 20 years old....
