Gotta love weathersealing!

I was waiting for the ferry last night in the middle of a Vancouver rainstorm when I got the urge to set up my tripod and take a few pictures. Sure felt great to not be limited by weather!

You are soooooooo brave! I've always felt weather sealing was more a suggestion than a guarantee

I used my K100D + DA*16-50 during the snow fall we had here last month. I covered up the K100D in a bag, but the lens was pretty much out there in the elements.

Still works today!

Pictures still on the memory card haha, still need time to process it. Unfortunately, the rain drops on the front of the lens ruined some of the pics, the wind was driving the rain horizontally and it was hard to keep off the front element.

I'm currently driving a 2002 Civic SiR. Its a neat little hatchback with a dashboard mounted shifter.

weathersealing is great! I had my K10D out on a couple boats while on vacation and wasn't afraid of the water splashing on it. It still works without a glitch.

I agree - weather sealing and shake reduction are two of the best reasons to get a Pentax K series camera.

I remember using my camera in heavy rain last year in Japan. All the people with Canons and Nikons looked at me as if I was mad, but I managed to get great shots of cherry blossoms dripping in the rain.

Here's some examples:

A few more examples of photos taken in the rain - this ones are from Nikko. The rain really makes the place seem even more ethereal:

My K10D was a constant companion all last summer and well into the fall in my kayack, on the water at least once a week. I keep it in a dry bag on rough water in case I dump (which hasn't happened when I had the camera) but on flat water its around my neck and there when I need it and gets some regular splash and dripping off the paddles. I have had no issues because of water getting on the camera. Its one of the reasons I bought it.

ハル9000さんへ、

お返事をありがとうございました。私は写真を撮るのはまだ下手です。日光は立派な所ですね。

[English: Thanks very much for your reply. My photography skills are still at beginner level. Nikko is a magnificent place, isn't it!]

PS - I normally live in Australia, so that was my one and only trip to Japan so far, I wouldn't mind visiting it again, but only when the exchange rate improves!

PPS - Bought a great set of pancake lenses when I was there to complete my prime collection!

I can certify that in my 4 months of K200D ownership I have had my Pentax out in several rainstorms and many many times in ocean spray no damage and a lot of photos. Weathersealing is not the ultimate answer to rain however, as we still need to have a rain repellent lens coating. Oh, and add salt water in there as well.

I bought a few water repellent filters when I was in Japan. I am not sure how available they are, or how effective. But they worked well for me when I was shooting in the rain.
