K10D for under $500?

I found a clearance deal on the K10D at a Wolf Camera today for $499. I haven't seen it that cheap anywhere. But I'm wondering, aside from the weather sealing, and added RAW button, etc., is it enough of an upgrade from the K100D? The reason I'm weary is because I've read on here that the high ISO performance of the K10D isn't that great and that's a feature I really need for my low light concert shooting. In fact, it's one of the top features I'm looking for in my next camera. Should I just wait for the K20D to drop in price, or even wait for the K30D?

It's quite impressive how much of a camera one can get these days for such little money...

Thanks for that link Mr Hyde. Do you know if most major retailers will offer that rebate?

Ritz camera had a K10D on clearance for $399 locally... I think you can do better than that for a K10D considering K20D's can be had for $580 off ebay... new...

DCR has corrected an apparent typo on their article. The K2000 is being offered for $499

A very intelligent man recently gave me the thought about the next Pentax revolution perhaps being 20 mp, video and full frame. And many photographers like to have the newest models or coolest toys which means supplies of K10 and K20 cameras circulating Amazon, eBay, etc..
That being said it is very difficult to resist all this $350 used and $399 display models prices for K10 cameras in more than a few places. If we can soon get K20 camers for $500... Well I will just put it this way. I'm not spending one more dime on cheap f4 glass and used vinyl records.

Oh absolutely. If you can get a K10 today for $500 and do not already have one, that is still a good price for a great camera. And it looks like the K100 is a very good camera as well and gets good reviews. I would not mind having one as a back up or to used just around here and there. You just have to weigh your wants and desires of course.

$399 for the K10D? Now that's a deal. I still think $499 isn't bad though.

Also, it looks like the rebate for the K20D has kicked in at Amazon, although seeing that these past few weeks they've been charging over $800, with the rebate, the price is still over $700.

This has been quoted more than once and I think for Ritz it was a very isolated instance. Although there is a seller online who lists demonstration and display model K10 cameras for $399, the fact is I have gone to three area Ritz stores and one in Fort Worth this passed month and none offer K10 for under $500. Some insist that customers do not handle the K10 they sell so they do not have to discount their floor models.
If you can get a new K10 for $400, buy it and do not eat out for the rest of the year.

And would someone poke me with sharp stick when we see new K20 cameras in many places going for $500, please

And one more thing. Can someone show me the link to any "post a pic of the face behind the Pentax/picture of yourself" that may be on the forum? Q.

I bought one of the "Factory Demo" K10Ds just before Christmas, with a PayPal 10% discount and a Live.Com 30% discount, it landed on my doorstop for around $250.

The unit looked to me like it had never been out of the box - no lens mounted and never turned on. I suspect it was new old stock. I find it hard to believe that there are hundreds of "factory demo" units out there, so this may just be a way to clear old inventory.

The high ISO performance on the K10D is worse than on the K100D. Handling, controls, everything else on the K10D I liked better, but I hated to give up high ISO capabilities. That's why I like the K20D so much. High ISO is better than the K100D, you get the great ergonomics of the K10D, plus more controls/functions.

The K10D is a great camera except in terms of high ISO. If that doesn't matter to you, then I'd get the good deal on the K10D, assuming it's enough of a difference below the K20D.
