K2000 quick snaps

The K2000 showed up tonight, and here are a few quick snaps. Apologies for the lighting (or lack thereof) but when the boy wants to meditate...

K2000 w/43ltd

candles the only light in the apt, AF

one halogen lamp on, AF

K20d w/31ltd (roughly equivalent crop)

candles only

halogen - AF is a tad off

relative size

The K20d fits in my hand better as I have big hands. But the K2000 is an easy thumb and 2 finger camera. Not sure on the comfort as I'll have to carry around and shoot it a bit. It is noticeably lighter and a lot smaller than the K20d. And while I've only taken a few snaps, the AF was spot on (both the above shots were AF) and exposure is pretty good considering there was literally only candlelight.

K2000 looks really cute next to the K20D.

So what do you think so far of the baby Pentax? I'm most interested in what AF speed and shutter noise are like.

AF is quick and accurate. I'm not sure what they did, but it seems better than the K20d. In the shot above the Km didn't hunt at all.

Shutter noise is a little loud for my taste. A little more of a clack than the K20d. I prefer as quiet a shutter as possible and in that case the Km is a bit on the loud side.

At this point I'm mostly wondering about size/shape. It might be a bit too small for my hands as if I cradle it in my hand my fingers are too long. But like anything there is an adjustment period. If I don't dig it I'll just sell it here. I haven't even bothered to mount the zoom lens. It is ridiculously light, but I have no interest in shooting it.

This is an exciting news about AF speed and accuracy. I will be looking for the white one myself
