Totally happy with my K20D. Favorite camera of all time. It has been trouble free and produces fine image quality. Not even sure what Pentax would have to do to get me to buy the next model.
thanks

I am a happy and satisfied K20 user since January 2008. Great camera, robust and reliable. Has quirks or limitations, just like any other camera. But I simply love the handling, the easy to navigate menues, the bright viewfinder and ofcourse the fact, that I can use all my lenses from the past 30 (nearly) years. I am still amazed by the quality of the images...

I was one of those folks who paid full retail for mine $1299.00 as I got it the first day it was available. I picked up a second body this past Christmas for $549.00 from Amazon thanks to a Typo that they honored. I really enjoy my K20D's and my K10D allot....

No complaints about mine as well...the sensor has an interesting smoothness about it and color seems more accurate than my old K10D. It proves that the body is the equivalent of a "film" upgrade in the old days.

And it turned out that the "roving hotpixel" issue I was worried about because of the DPR review is absolutely a non-issue because of the built-in hot-pixel mapping. I thought they'd return randomly after running this in the menu, but they have not, so I don't know why in the world DPR made a big deal out of this...

Another weird thing is the JPEG images from the K20D seem to show artifacts unless you set the quality to 100%. I attached the image below at 85% quality and it was all blotchy.

For me it is love / hate - happy / sad

But is not that the pentax way? We always seem to be trying to work around some aspect of a pentax lens or body... just the way
it is I guess. The PF of the 77ltd or the AF/pttl flash of the bodies.
I have enjoyed my time with the K20d. Love the sensor, but not so crazy about the AF... But man it looks great when I get it right.
So like all things pentax, I am mostly happy, sometimes sad...

If there is a such thing as an honest Fanboy then I be one.

And a fine snapper too

Yep, you are right. It seems only bad news surface... but I am quite happy with my K20D.

I could upload hundreds of pictures, but I guess would be too much bragging and a lot of bandwith usage.
Did you use the DA* 200mm?

Apart from my kit lens being faulty and a huge speck on the sensor from day one which I still have not dislodged I love my K20D. I have been using it for weeks with a 50mm M F1.7 and a borrowed Tamron 80-210. I am waiting for my kit lens to be brought out to me in Spain in a few weeks. It's bizarre having my current shortest focal length being the equivalent of 75mm! Still, I have got some good photos. I started out using the AdobeRGB colour space but I gave up on this and now use the sRGB setting.
Given that I bought it in the UK before the recent price rise and got £100 cashback it's a bargain. I effectively paid £465!!!

Nope, it was my FA*200/2.8 IF, which I believe has the same optical formula as the new DA*200/2.8.

Interesting thing about this lens (specifically my own FA*200) is that I bought it many years ago and used it every once in a while with my PZ1P. Images were good but a bit soft. I guessed it was due to large aperture.

Last year I discovered a fungus spec inside, so I took it to the local Pentax retailer that has a repair shop. The guy who is factory trained and has all the service manuals, did a complete CLA on the lens, and discovered that the main (front) elements group was not properly adjusted. This elements group goes in via threaded barrel but it does not have to go "all the way in till it stops". It has to be adjusted somewhere in between. He used a special collimator device (don't ask me what that is) and discovered that this elements group adjustment was "off" by something like 1/8 turn on the threads. That is like 1/20 th of a millimiter.

After that, my beloved FA*200/2.8 has turned into a "long range microscope". I can't believe its sharpness.

Yeez! Not that I have a K20D yet but I'm about to order one on monday as I got a good deal from a dealer in Finland. Despite the thread about vertical banding problems some users had (in cold), I'm ready to try my luck
Well, I can't tell you how it will behave in real Finnish cold, but so long as you give it a good long time covered to warm up to avoid condensation coming in, moderate cold, down to -20 C or so, doesn't seem to bother it.
These are from the first thousand pictures I took, last March, scaled but not cropped:

The K20D is still way smarter than I am, but I'm getting there.

This one is from a week ago; the autofocus isn't perfect, but it's good enough for a flying bird with minimal warning. (It's a 100% crop; it was not a close flying bird.)

I'm also happy with mine, though I can't say my old house was as happy with the bulldozer
