My K20d is a lemon... :(

Well, my crappy luck strikes again...

My K20d is a lemon....

Basically it randomly freezes when trying to access the SD card, and the only way to unfreeze it is to remove the battery. Up to now it does it 2-3 times every day!

I tried 3 cards and it does it intermitently with all 3 cards... (an ATP 2gb SD, PNY 8gb class 4 SDHC, Lexar Professional 8gb Class 6 SDHC)

I've had the camera 6 days so I'll ask Henry's to exchange it. I am SO annoyed!

Pat

Well, there is the reason I chose to buy my k20d from Henrys!!!

I emailed them with a decription of the problem, and within 5 minutes they emailed me back telling me to return the unit and they'll gladly exchange it.

Now thats service!

Sorry to hear that. I was gonna suggest some problem with the memory card, but since you've used three different cards from different manofacturers, then yes, your camera has something wrong.

Card errors are known issues, especially when cards come from a suspicious source (there are zillions of "fake" cards out there). But I guess this is not your case.

Hope your camera gets exchanged for a new one.

Now, if the new one behaves the same, then I would aim my research towards the memory cards.

A good reason to buy from a reliable company. Glad that Henry's stands behind their sales.

stuff happens and glad it is getting sorted. I prefer to either buy from my local shop or a small handful of reputable online dealers (Adorama and BH mostly). I gladly pay a bit more for good service. Sometimes low prices isn't a deal...

Tell me about it! Good service is definetly worth paying a few dollars more. I could have gotten the camera for $50 cheaper at prodigital, but I've read too many times they are hard to get in touch with so I didn't mind paying the extra few bucks for good service from Henrys... and it looks like it paid off.

Well, I just mailed out the camera... now I just have to be patient!

Kind of like buying a new Corvette and in a few days you have to take it back to the dealer for a problem.
But we can assume that your other great Pentax digital cameras will help take your mind off temporarily not having a K20 to cruise with this Valentine's Day.

Mine had the same exact issue, for this reason it is off in Colorado getting fixed. I will have it back the beginning of march if it doesnt require any parts. If it requires parts it will be longer.

This seems to be a common issue with the k20d. As long as it gets fixed I am still happy, when it was working it worked great. Glad your is resolved much quicker.
