K10D doesn't trigger shutter after debug mode

Hello,
after about 75.000 actuations and 1 and1/2 year life my k10d doesn't fire anymore.
Yesterday i decided finally after so much time that i'm not satisfied with the autofocus (backfocus) to try the debug mode, which i read so many found usefull and that it is now available for firmware 1.3 in english, too.
That's it:
http://dednev.pisem.net/setup_gx10_dmctrl_1.1u_eng.exe

Well, afetr playing around a bit with different lenses a put a compensation of +60 and today i had my first day with new camera!
It seemed to work really better, at last i was getting confident with my camera autofocus and my FA24-90 and FA50 1,4.

Then it happend: 50 shots of happiness and then shutter doesn't trigger anymore.
Besides this, everything else works! But when you want to actuate shutter the only thing you feel is the sensor moving very lightly to and fro, wich i suppose is the shake reduction that wants to activate.

I TRIED EVERYTHING possible: battery changed, card changed, tried to lift up mirror through menu but doesn't work, shake reduction works when activated through menu and anything else. I also tried to put back the correction for autofocus through debug menu. Only other thing that doesn't work is optical/digital preview. Flash fires only very lightly, wich i guess it's the p-ttl preflash before the shutter releases.

Last thing that i was doing is that: i enterd flash menu because i wanted to try some shots wirelessly with AF360fgz. Then it didn't fire anymore. Of course i tried also to restore these settings.

Now, is it maybe just a case that right after entering debug mode (50 shots after that) my camera doesn't work anymore?
The service told me that the camera is still under guarantee so i won't pay anything but i work with my camera and i will have to stay without it for who knows how long, maybe months! So I will be forced to buy a new one!

And then i found the debug mode very useful, should i use it again when my K10D is working again? I'm a bit afraid ...

Has anybody had similar problems?

I think the 75,000 actuations is your answer.

I was thinking the same thing. If that is an accurate shutter count then it is time to either A: Replace the shutter mechanism or B: Purchase a new camera body. I would try having the shutter overhauled first.

Hello, thank you.
These cameras are tested for 100.000, and from what the people at pentax service tell me, they can go to 150.000 actuations without problems.
The real number of actuations i have is around 67.000 (i looked better).
so... was i unlucky..? nothing to do with debug mode?

My GX10 shutter failed at 38,000. I believe if you did a survey the 100,000 has little meaning because the tech called the part the actuator. Samsung just gave me a new one rather the fool around with my old one.

The debug menu probably had nothing to do with your problem, do make sure you clear it out of debug menu before sending it in to get fixed. Why would it take months? Why would you have to buy another? Getting a K10 fixed free is a great thing, your in good shape IMO. But I guess where you live the service is different. And the K20 is a nice camera.

BTW I must say; make sure its not a bad battery, charging a bad battery does nothing.

Somebody (forgot who) in the marketplace who was selling a K10D posted (a link) how many shutter counts these things actually go for. The post is still there (to lazy to look).
Others get more than a million, other get less than the quoted 100,000.
It all depends on how lucky you are with the "copy" you got.
Maybe your camera just gave up and you got one that just had a shutter count that gave-in at less than 100,000.
The best thing to do is send it to pentax 'coz it it gave out before the 100,000 guarantee, then I guess they'll replace it for free...and if they replace it with a new one (shutter mechanism)...luckily, you'll get another 100,000 or more out of it!
