"Correct" white balance is one of the biggest myths out there. Incandescent light is very orange, as is late day light. Our eyes are used to seeing white as white so our brains try to compensate by thinking it is in different light sources, but it isn't. Incandescent light is still orange.

Balancing a scene so that the whites appear white frequently, as on the site linked above can rob a scene of its magic.
