Liveview audible noise

Hi,

recently, I got a K20d camera. In live view with SR on, the camera makes a lous grinding noise. Is this normal for K20d or my camera is defective?

That's the image stabilization working, you don't hear it in non-Liveview mode because it only works the instant you press the shutter button to take the shot. Give it a try.

In Liveview mode, it works all the time. Perfectly normal.

You can try to switch the stabilization off and on again and you'll notice the difference right away - and the effectiveness of the stabilization, if you try to move camera around with live view activated both times.

Thanks for the response. Do you know if the level of noise on Pentax is higher or lower than other in-body stabilizating cameras?

Also, on tripod the recommendation is to turn off the stabilization mode. What happens if you don't. Will it causes extra shaking or in anyway damage the camera in long run?

How is SR noise in Pentax compare to other cameras? Also, it is recommended to turn off SR when having the camera on tripod. What happens if you don't? Would it cause extra shaking or will it damage the camera in long run?

My k20 makes the loud noise in live view with the shake reduction on, but it also makes a secondary quieter noise. This noise is only produced when the camera is moves up/down/left/right regardless of what shake reduction is on. It stops when movement is ceased. Does anyone else hear this noise with their camera. I just got mine, so I want to find out if this is normal before the 90 days is up.
