Firmware for DS

I seem to have an issue in updating my DS.

I have download the firmware 2.02 to my desktop, then copied it to the SD card.

I then place the SD card into the DS, hold down the menu button and turn the camera on, version 1.00 shows up in the display and then it goes to the normal menu and not the update screen described on the Pentax notes that is use the direction dial and ok for yes.

By the way I'm still holding down the menu button, what haven't I done.

Sorry for sounding like an idiot, but what can I say.....

thanks in advance.

If you plug your camera into the computer then go into My computer, you should see it as a drive letter. Same effect if you are using a card reader.

Copy the BIN file in that drive and do not go into the folder that's sitting in there.

Now disconnect the camera, turn it off, and try to hold the menu button while turning on the camera again.

Hope that helps

Did you double click on the downloaded file - the firmware for the *ist Ds is a file named:
FWDC131B.BIN
that is the only file you copy to the SD card then go through the upgrade process.
Firmware is cummulative so you can go from v1.0 to v2.02 without having to go through all the revisons.

That happened to me on my k10, I had to format the sd card and then copy the file so it would go to root on the card. Erasing the card wasn't enough. Hope this helps.

Are you sure you copied it to the root directory of the card?
