Great deal on the GX-1L kit $228

I just saw this deal posted on Fatwallet, $228 for the Samsung Digimax 1L kit (basically the same as the *ist DL). Only this time, I don't have to go through the free printer ebay sales dance to get the final price down.

Yeah, I bought one.

Here's the link for those interested.

Samsung GX-1L deal

So, what firmware/updates do I need to do to it? What are the practical differences between it and the Pentax *ist DL version (which I also have)?

I got my GX-1L last month for a bit more than $228; sweet deal btw.
I'm quite pleased with it so far. Good to meet more GX-1L/istDL users.

Here's a minor comparison between the GX-1L and istDL:
The GX-1L is the entry-level Samsung dSLR for 2006. Its resemblance to the Pentax *ist DL is no accident; the GX-1L was jointly developed with Samsung's partner, the Pentax Corporation. The GX-1L incorporates the same 2 1/2-inch LCD monitor, firmware features, pentamirror viewfinder and shooting performance of the Pentax *ist DL, but increases the number of AF points from 3 to 5.

In order to use SDHC cards with your GX-1L you may have to upgrade the firmware to 1.02 for SDHC support.

Thanks for the information. It looks like the camera handles the same, including using older Pentax lenses. I'm pretty stoked about the deal (shame it's US only).

Received the camera today and set it up for my sister. It's a sweet deal, $230 for a digital slr with kit lens. I upgraded the firmware to use SDHC, installed a 4GB card (holds ~350+ raw images), set it for use on manual lenses (I'm sending her a 135/2.8 and a 28/2.8), and threw in a pack of 4 hybrid NiMH cells. She's going to be stoked! Can't wait to see what she can do with it. She used to take nice shots of her travels 25 years ago.
