K20D Built-in Flash ... questions

Hello everyone.
I am starting to use the K20D built-in flash for backlit situations such as a subject with a setting sun behind, or a harsh snowy (white) scene into which a human subject is and with a low, very harsh sun behind.
I wanted to know what would the settings be? I.E.: Slow or Normal, what max shutter speed used if I am in Av or TAv mode(s) ... that sort of thing.
Also: is there an already "calculated" distance scale available somewhere so I won't have to do all the mathematics myself, according to the lighting situation and type of lens used?
Any helpon the matter would be greatly appreciated!

Your best bet would be to stop the lens down until the shutter speed is within the flash sync speed of 1/180 and use it as normal. You may have to adjust the exp. comp. of the flash to get a "natural" look. If this is not an option, ie fast moving subject or not enough in camera flash power, your best bet would be to get a shoe mount flash with a high speed sync option and not worry about the above and just shoot normal.
