Originally posted by Mr. B Well, I finally have some cash to spend on a new DSLR, since I made up my mind about 6 months ago that is has to be a Pentax, here's the question:
Should I buy a new K200D or a used but in good condition K10D?
I have the K10D (now sold), the K20D and the K200D.
Handling of the K10D is better. The 2 dials, buffer, pentaprism, etc. It's basically the same as the K20D minus the sensor, liveview and some minor features.
But the K200D is also a very nice camera. If you shoot JPEG, the K200D benefits from the improvement that the K20D has in this regard. The IQ is also improved vs the K10D, especially at high ISO (slightly) and the VPN. VPN affected almost all K10D up to some degree. In normal conditions it's hard to see it but as you lift the shadows or underexpose a little at ISO 1600 it's hard to miss. The K200D is also more suited for people who prefer auto/scene modes and don't fiddle too much with the controls.
I'm selling my K200D because I already have the K20D and for a second camera I prefer something smaller (it would be the K-m).
