K10D or K200D?

Well, I finally have some cash to spend on a new DSLR, since I made up my mind about 6 months ago that is has to be a Pentax, here's the question:
Should I buy a new K200D or a used but in good condition K10D?
With the K200 I'd have warranty and all that - it would be new afterall.
But then again with the K10 there's the better viewfinder, 2 dials, more body controls but it isn't new...
One last thing - the K10 can be bought 20% cheaper than a new K200 with only 2-3 thousand shots, both with a 18-55mm.
I'm leaning towards the K10D if I find a good deal but I'm not really sure, so please help me decide

Oh, and a another last thing - strict budget so don't be suggesting a K20.
Till how many shots can a K10 be considered still "new"? I wasn't gonna buy anything above 4k, because I'm planning to have this body for a long time.

Well, a lot of questions here, I'll be happy if someone takes a few minutes to read and answer them. Thanks

Both are great cameras. What are you looking for and what are your needs?

Yes, I can see both of them are great, that's why I can't decide. And the k200 is really a smaller version of the k10, they're really similar...

Needs... Well, I'm new to DSLRs but I've done some photography before, I'm actually looking for a camera to take better photos in low light with, because my P&S can't do sh*t if the light isn't perfect. I realize I'll have to get a faster lens to do that.
I pretty much take pictures of everything and everybody

If you're thinking about the Km, I've given up on that 'cause it's too small, actually my hands are too big One more reason for the k10

Weathersealing is pretty useful so I don't have to worry about every rain drop or some dirt/dust

High ISO performance is a bit better on the K200D. ISO 1600 not as clean as on the K20D, but still better than K10D, even though it has the same sensor.

And have a K100D in the house as well. IQ is satisfactory with both of them, but the feel of the K10D wins hands.

I had the same question at the end of last year.
Here's the thread I made, and there are some useful comments in there:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/40557-k200d-0r-k10d.html

I went for the K10 in the end and am 100% happy with my choice.
Both great cameras though.

The K10d was a different layout to what I was using, in regards to the lack of scene modes, but I soon got into the swing of things.
It's been a joy to use it. It has lots of features that keep it fresh(for me anyway).
It's my first digital slr since switching from film.

I also recommend the K10 Magic Lantern book.

Thanks everyone, I guess the K10 is in slight advantage, it's really a hard choice when choosing between 2 great cameras, I'll think it over again, but I think it'll be the K10D, the ones offered have just a couple thousand shots, are good as new and are cheaper than the K200. And to me money does matter because I'm a student. Students never have enough money

I had the K10D, I have the K20D and K200D. I think the K10D has a more enjoyable handling. As you noted: the 2 dials, the bigger VF, deeper buffer, etc. It's very similar to the K20D except for the sensor, liveview, AF adjustments and some other minor details or improvements.

But the K200D is also more recent than the K10D with some "debugged" electronics. For example the VPN on underexposed shots is gone. Noise is a bit better controlled. AF-C a bit more reliable, etc. And it has a better warranty of course.

It's a difficult choice really.

I am sure that you have done much homework on where to buy and the prices of both cameras but you should be able to find a demonstration/display model K10 somewhere online that will at least come with a year warranty as well.
I had thoughts of getting a K200 as a second body but it does seem just different in ways I may not be satisfied with so I no longer consider getting one. I would much rather have a second K10 or hope for a pot of gold to land in my backyard so I can get a K20.
There is a lot of love around here for the K10. Join us.

Found a K10 which is one year old and has about 6500 shots. Looks perfect. Comes in original packaging with all accessories. The owner is selling it because he got a K20. Worth buying?

Wouldn't want to give up any of those two features.
