Did I fry my K10D's flash circuitry?
I picked up a bag of old equipment yesterday, including a Sunpak 121 flash. Without thinking, I popped some batteries in, put it on my K10D, and fired off a few shots. Worked fine! Not realizing that it is listed at a trigger voltage of 115 on one site!!
Later that day I put my Promaster 7500edf flash on the camera and it acted very strange- turned on, powered up, fired off the flash on its own, screen goes blank, focus light comes on, locked up. If I immediatley push some buttons on powerup, it stabilizes and fires. Now this lockup happens whenever I turn on the flash, on camera or off.
BUT, it doesn't sync. Flashes, but not in sync with shutter.
A Sunpak 383 syncs fine. On-camera flash is fine.
Now the Promaster has had some hiccups in the past. So I can't say for certain that the problem is in the camera or the flash. It seems strange that the flash would move from one simple issue- not staying in manual when on the camera- to a total lockup and lack of sync, but who knows?
Any ideas? Any suggestions on ways to test the camera sync circuit? Ways to 'reset' the flash circuitry after possibly frying it with a high trigger voltage? Simple tests for the Promaster to see its status?
Thanks.
