K10D Image Tone setting

Since I routinely brighten the colors in my pictures with post-processing, I tried resetting my K10D's Image Tone from "Natural" to "Bright." While the change does brighten colors, it also dims exposure by a half to maybe even a full stop or more, requiring other post-processing changes. Anybody else fooled with this setting? Any suggestions, comments?
